This section covers the second visit to Joseph Hill's residence as part of the 'Fleeing Phoenix' case. When you arrive, you'll notice a dead man at the stairs and signs of a struggle. Head downstairs, where you'll find more deceased individuals and a group of wylebeasts. You can climb a table in the basement to access a room above, where you'll find a letter from the landlord. This letter suggests that Mr. Hill hasn't breached his rental agreement, despite complaints about noises and smells. After examining the bodies and wylebeasts in the apartment, proceed upstairs. You'll find a broken-in door leading to Joseph Hill's apartment. Inside, an undead Mayan girl, who introduces herself as Usha, will attack you. She's hostile, teleports, and uses a knife. After the fight, she'll vanish, and you can explore the apartment. On a small table, you'll find a crumpled letter from 'N. Hill,' warning Joseph about his self-destructive research and threatening to withhold his inheritance if he doesn't stop. You can also examine a framed photograph in the bedroom. In the back of the apartment, within a large circle of strange symbols, you'll find Joseph Hill. He'll explain that Usha is the keeper of the key to Cthygonnaar and that you'll need to track her down. Usha gains strength by killing and drinking the blood of others. Reports of a vampire in Salvation Harbor are your next lead. To investigate these reports, you'll need to visit the Oakmont Police Department to use their archives. This leads to the 'Bloodless Corpses Crime Scene' investigation.
