Walkthrough
  1. 1
    Charon Ship Investigation:
    • Collect your belongings from the table. This includes the Letter from J. van der Berg, the Camera, and your Pistol.
  2. 2
To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an "eyeball" symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  3. 3
Take a picture of the strange fish mounted on the wall using your camera (Additional Evidence).
  4. 4
Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings (Additional Evidence).
  5. 5
Loot the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable contents are randomized and can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
  6. 6
Conversation with Johannes van der Berg:
    • After collecting your belongings, you will automatically speak with Johannes van der Berg.
  7. 7
To advance the game, select the following dialogue options: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", "Goodbye.". Choosing other options may lock you out of certain dialogue branches.
  8. 8
    Finding Robert Throgmorton:
    • Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the exit.
  9. 9
Climb the stairs to automatically begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  10. 10
To advance the game, select the following dialogue options: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", "I'll be going.". Other options are optional.
  11. 11
    Optional Investigation: Lifeboat Titania:
    • Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  12. 12
Inspect the Lifeboat Name "TITANIA" (Additional Evidence).
  13. 13
Examine the Diving Helmet. Rotate it and look at the front faceplate to search. Be aware that your sanity will drain while looking at the helmet; do not hold it for too long. (Additional Evidence).
  14. 14
Find Albert Throgmorton's will on one of the seats inside the lifeboat (Additional Evidence). You may need to climb inside using Triangle.
  15. 15
Returning Albert's will to Robert Throgmorton unlocks an additional conversation.
Tips
  • If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ACP rounds. Use this ammo sparingly as it depletes quickly.
  • Consider investing a Skill Point into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly looted for ammunition and crafting materials. The amount of loot may indicate the danger level of the area.
  • Climbing to higher areas is done by pressing Triangle.
  • Equip your gun by holding L1 to bring up the weapon wheel, select the gun, and press Square to reload.
  • Collecting all key evidence on the "Charon" ship grants an additional 140 XP.
  • Completing the optional Lifeboat Titania investigation grants an additional 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
