Complete walkthrough for The Sinking City's 'A Frosty Welcome' mission, including key evidence, optional investigations, and character interactions.
Walkthrough
- 1Collect Belongings on the "Charon" Ship: This is your first investigation location. You must collect your key evidence: your belongings on the table, the Letter from J. van der Berg (found in the briefcase), and the Camera. To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Note that your gun is not loaded and must be reloaded (equip gun, press Square) before firing.
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to take a photo of the trophy fish mounted on the wall. Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings table.
- 3Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials.
- 4Speak with Johannes van der Berg: Exit the ship by climbing onto the dock (press Triangle). Engage in conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To advance, select: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally, "Goodbye.". Choosing these options will lock out other dialogue branches.
- 5Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to a bar and exit. Go up the stairs to begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To advance, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and "I'll be going.". Other questions are optional.
Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat
- Location: Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
- Evidence: Inspect the lifeboat name "TITANIA". Rotate the Diving Helmet and search its front faceplate. Find Albert Throgmorton's will on a seat inside the lifeboat (press Triangle to climb inside). Be aware that looking at the diving helmet for too long will drain your sanity.
- Reward: Completing this optional investigation yields an extra 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
- If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. This weapon consumes ammo quickly; save its initial clip for important moments.
- Consider investing a Skill Point into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable contents are randomized but can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
- The lifeboat investigation is optional and does not add to your casebook, but provides XP and lore.
Completing the main objectives progresses the story. The optional Titania Lifeboat investigation provides additional XP and lore.
