Navigate the initial stages of The Sinking City 2 with our comprehensive walkthrough for "A Frosty Welcome," covering evidence collection, NPC interactions, and optional objectives.
Walkthrough
- 1Charon Ship Investigation: As your first investigation location, collect all key evidence: your belongings (briefcase), the Letter from J. van der Berg, the Camera, and the Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Note that your gun is not loaded and requires reloading (equip gun with L1, press Square).
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the trophy plate (a strange fish on the wall) and examine the flyer on the desk.
- 3Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects provide ammunition and crafting materials and can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
- 4Interact with Johannes van der Berg: After collecting your belongings, climb onto the dock (Triangle) and speak with Johannes van der Berg. Select dialogue options to advance the game: "About my problem," "Where is Robert Throgmorton?" "I need somewhere to stay," "How do I get to Devil's Reef?" and "Goodbye." Choosing these options progresses the game and locks out optional dialogue.
- 5Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier to a sign. Turn right towards the bar and exit. Ascend the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- 6Interact with Robert Throgmorton: Select dialogue options to advance: "What happened to your son?" "Who are the Innsmouthers?" "What do you know about the visions?" "I can try to find Albert." "Tell me more about the case." and "I'll be going." Optional questions can be asked before selecting "I'll be going."
- 7Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation: If you ask about the lifeboat's location, return to the sign. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. Collect additional evidence: inspect the "TITANIA" nameplate, examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate, be mindful of sanity drain), and find Albert Throgmorton's will on a seat. Climbing inside the lifeboat (Triangle) may be necessary. Completing this optional investigation grants 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
- If you purchased the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. Use these sparingly as they deplete quickly.
- Consider putting a free Skill Point (if applicable via DLC) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable object contents are randomized but can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
- Be cautious when examining the Diving Helmet in the Titania Lifeboat, as it can drain your sanity.
- Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation provides extra XP and dialogue options.
