Follow our comprehensive guide to The Sinking City's 'A Frosty Welcome' mission, detailing evidence collection, NPC interactions, and optional objectives.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
The 'Charon' Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect key evidence: your belongings (briefcase), the Letter from J. van der Berg, the Camera, and the Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an 'eyeball' symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine. You'll receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  2. 2
Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the mounted fish (Photo of a trophy plate) and examine the flyer on the desk (Flyer).
  3. 3
Lootables: Search lockers and other lootable objects for ammunition and crafting materials. These reset when you leave and return to the area.
  4. 4
Conversation with Johannes van der Berg: After exiting the ship (press Triangle to climb onto the dock), speak with Johannes van der Berg. Key dialogue options to advance are: 'About my problem,' 'Where is Robert Throgmorton?,' 'I need somewhere to stay,' 'How do I get to Devil's Reef?,' and 'Goodbye.' Choosing 'Goodbye' ends the conversation permanently.
  5. 5
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign. You'll automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. Key dialogue options to advance are: 'What happened to your son?,' 'Who are the Innsmouthers?,' 'What do you know about the visions?,' 'I can try to find Albert,' 'Tell me more about the case,' and 'I'll be going.'
  6. 6
Optional: Lifeboat Titania: To access this optional investigation, return to the sign, go left down a path, and turn left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. Collect additional evidence: inspect the Lifeboat Name ('TITANIA'), examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the faceplate), and find Albert Throgmorton's will on a seat. Be cautious as looking at the diving helmet drains sanity.
  7. 7
Return Albert's Will: After finding the will, return to Robert Throgmorton to unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
  • If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and .45 ACP rounds. Use this sparingly as ammo is scarce.
  • Consider putting your starting Skill Point into 'Absolute Clarity' for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Reloading your pistol: Equip the gun via the weapon wheel (hold L1), then press Square to reload.
  • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammo and crafting materials.
  • The Lifeboat Titania investigation provides extra XP and an additional conversation, but is not required for case progression.
Completing the main objectives progresses the story. Optional objectives yield additional XP and lore. If all evidence in a location is collected, you receive an additional 140 XP.
