    On the Charon ship, collect your belongings from the table. This includes the Letter from J. van der Berg (from the briefcase), the Camera, and your Pistol. To collect the pistol, examine its handle by rotating it until an eyeball symbol appears and pressing X. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.

    Reload your pistol by holding L1, selecting the gun, and pressing Square.

    Use your camera to take a picture of the mounted fish on the wall (Additional Evidence).

    Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings table (Additional Evidence).

    Loot the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects can be reset and looted again for ammunition and crafting materials.

    Exit the boat by climbing the dock to your right using Triangle.

    Speak with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Note that choosing these options locks out other dialogue branches.

    Proceed north along the pier to a sign with directions. Turn right towards the "exit" and go up the stairs.

    Speak with Robert Throgmorton. To advance the game, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and finally "I'll be going.". Note that choosing these options locks out other dialogue branches.

Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation

  1. Return to the sign with directions. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea.
  2. Find the lifeboat beyond police barricades.
  3. Inspect the lifeboat's name: TITANIA.
  4. Examine the Diving Helmet. Rotate it and search the front faceplate. Be aware that prolonged examination drains sanity.
  5. Collect Albert Throgmorton's will from one of the seats. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat using Triangle.
  6. Returning Albert's will to Robert Throgmorton unlocks an optional conversation.
Tips
  • If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. Use these sparingly as they are difficult to replenish quickly.
  • Consider putting your starting Skill Point into the Absolute Clarity Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly looted for ammo and crafting materials. More valuable loot may indicate a more dangerous area.
