Walkthrough
  1. 1
On the "Charon" Ship: Collect your belongings from the table. This also grants you the Letter from J. van der Berg. Pick up the Camera. Examine the Pistol by rotating it until an "eyeball" symbol appears on the handle and pressing X to examine; this also grants 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  2. 2
Additional Evidence on Ship: Use the camera to photograph the mounted fish (Photo of a trophy plate). Examine the flyer on the desk (Flyer).
  3. 3
Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk for randomized ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable objects reset when you leave and return to the area.
  4. 4
Exit the Ship: Climb onto the dock using Triangle.
  5. 5
Speak with Johannes van der Berg: Engage in conversation. To advance, select "About my problem," "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay," "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye." Choosing "Goodbye" ends all conversation branches.
  6. 6
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to a bar and exit. Ascend the stairs to initiate a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  7. 7
Speak with Robert Throgmorton: To advance, select "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert," "Tell me more about the case," and finally "I'll be going." Selecting "I'll be going" ends all conversation branches.
  8. 8
Optional: Lifeboat Titania: Return to the sign pointing to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  9. 9
Evidence at Lifeboat: Inspect the lifeboat name (TITANIA). Examine the Diving Helmet, rotating it to find the front faceplate and search. Collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat using Triangle. Looking at the diving helmet drains sanity over time.
  10. 10
Return to Robert Throgmorton: After finding the will, return to Robert Throgmorton to give him the will and unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun (if owned via DLC) is powerful but consumes ammunition quickly; save its clip for important moments.
  • Consider investing a Skill Point into the Absolute Clarity Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Reload your pistol by equipping it via the weapon wheel (hold L1) and pressing Square.
  • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for resources.
  • The Lifeboat Titania is an optional investigation that provides extra XP and an additional conversation, but its evidence is not required for the main casebook.
Completing the "A Frosty Welcome" mission and collecting all key evidence on the ship grants an additional 140 XP. Completing the optional Lifeboat Titania investigation also grants 140 XP. The Submachine Gun and .45 ABP rounds are provided with specific DLC purchases. A Skill Point may also be provided with DLC. Collecting the pistol yields 6 .38 pistol rounds.
