    • Your belongings on the table (required to leave).
  2. 2
Letter from J. van der Berg: Found within the briefcase.
  3. 3
Camera: Examine the pistol, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X. You receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  4. 4
Pistol: Pick up the pistol and examine it by rotating it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, then press X. You receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  5. 5
Collect Additional Evidence on the Ship:
    • Photo of a trophy plate: Use your camera to photograph the mounted fish on the wall.
  6. 6
Flyer: Examine the flyer on the desk.
  7. 7
Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable contents are randomized and can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
  8. 8
Exit the Ship and Speak to Johannes van der Berg: Climb onto the dock (Triangle). Choose dialogue options to progress: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", "Goodbye.". Note that selecting "Goodbye" ends all conversation branches.
  9. 9
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign. You will automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. Key dialogue options to advance the game include: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", "I'll be going.".
  10. 10
    Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat:
    • Return to the sign pointing to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  11. 11
    Additional Evidence:
    • Inspect the Lifeboat Name "TITANIA".
  12. 12
Examine the Diving Helmet: Rotate and search the front faceplate. Be aware that your sanity drains while looking at it.
  13. 13
Albert Throgmorton's will: Located on one of the lifeboat seats. Climb inside (Triangle) to collect.
  14. 14
Completing this optional investigation grants an extra 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun (if owned via DLC) is powerful but consumes ammunition quickly; save its clip for critical moments.
  • Consider investing the free Skill Point (if received via DLC) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. The amount of loot may indicate the danger level of the area.
  • The conversation choices with NPCs are important for advancing the game and can lock out future dialogue options if not selected carefully.
  • The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional and does not add to your casebook, but provides valuable XP and lore.
  • Optional: 140 XP for completing the Titania Lifeboat investigation.
  • Optional: Additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
