Alright, so you've stumbled upon a side case called Mystic Tomes. It's a pretty interesting one that kicks off early in the game, right after you wake up in your room at the Devil's Reef Hotel during the main case Lost at Sea. You'll find a letter on your desk addressed to Charles Reed, which starts everything off. This case is part of the Worshippers of the Necronomicon (DLC)). ### The Book Collector's Letter This letter, named A Plea for Help, is from a book collector. Reading it will point you to the room across the hall from yours in the hotel. Inside that room, you'll find 7 notes, each leading you to a different mystical book hidden around Oakmont. ### The Whereabouts of the Research Notes Head over to the hotel room across the hall from Reed's makeshift office. You'll find the collector's research notes scattered around. Here's where each note is located: * On the bulletin board: You'll find notes for Tome in the ruins and Book in the bank. * On the chair facing the boarded window: This is where The Hidden Book note is. * On the floor next to the Mattress: Look here for the Waiting Book note. * On the table to the left of the entryway: You'll find notes for The Nightmares and The Tome of the Mair. * On the desk: The note for the Bewitched tome is here. * On the wall to the side of the desk: This is where you'll find the note for The Wheel Tome. ### Finding the Mystic Tomes Now for the fun part – tracking down these books! #### Bewitched Tome This one is located in eastern Reed Heights. Head to the northernmost stretch of Communion Road, north of Museum Avenue. You'll find the tome near the remains of a gray car. Be warned: a grotesque abomination guards it. A good strategy is to lure it away by running, then target the explosive barrels scattered around the area. About 3-4 good hits from these barrels should take care of it. Once it's defeated, the tome will appear, floating in the air. #### The Hidden Book This book was stolen from the Throgmorton museum and ended up with a local surgeon. You'll need to find it in his house after the Flood. (The source text cuts off here, but this implies you'll need to investigate the surgeon's house.)
