Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City. Find all key evidence, complete optional objectives, and uncover the secrets of the Charon ship and Titania Lifeboat.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
On the Ship ('Charon'): Your first objective is to collect your belongings from the table. This includes:
    • Letter from J. van der Berg: Obtained by taking the briefcase.
  2. 2
Camera: A usable item for taking pictures as evidence.
  3. 3
Pistol: Pick it up, rotate it to find an 'eyeball' symbol on the handle, and press X to examine. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Note: The gun is not loaded and must be reloaded (equip gun, press Square).
  4. 4
    Additional Evidence on Ship (Optional):
    • Photo of a trophy plate: Use your camera to photograph the mounted fish on the wall.
  5. 5
Flyer: Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings.
  6. 6
Lootables on Ship (Optional): A locker to the right of the desk can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable contents are randomized.
  7. 7
Speak with Johannes van der Berg: Exit the ship by climbing onto the dock (Triangle). Initiate a conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select the dialogue options related to your problem, Robert Throgmorton, needing a place to stay, Devil's Reef, and then say goodbye. Choosing specific dialogue options will lock out others.
  8. 8
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier to a sign. Turn right towards the exit and go up the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To advance the game, select:
    • 'What happened to your son?'
  9. 9
    'Who are the Innsmouthers?'
  10. 10
'What do you know about the visions?'
  11. 11
'I can try to find Albert.'
  12. 12
'Tell me more about the case.'
  13. 13
    'I'll be going.'
  14. 14
Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat: Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This is optional and does not add to your casebook, but grants 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
    • Inspect the Lifeboat Name: Find 'TITANIA'.
  15. 15
Diving Helmet: Rotate and search the front faceplate. Be aware that looking at it for too long drains sanity.
  16. 16
Albert Throgmorton's will: A letter found on one of the lifeboat seats. You may need to climb inside (Triangle).
  17. 17
Return to Robert Throgmorton: After finding Albert's will, return to Robert Throgmorton to give him the will and unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
  • If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. This weapon consumes ammo quickly; save the initial clip for a special occasion.
  • Consider putting a free Skill Point (if obtained via DLC) into the 'Absolute Clarity' Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects (marked with a symbol) can be repeatedly searched for ammo and crafting materials. They reset if you leave and return to the area.
  • The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional but rewarding.
Completing all key evidence on the ship grants an additional 140 XP. Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation grants another 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
