Walkthrough
  1. 1
Collect Key Evidence on the 'Charon' Ship:
    • Your belongings on the table are key evidence.
  2. 2
Pick up the briefcase to obtain the Letter from J. van der Berg.
  3. 3
    Collect the Camera.
  4. 4
To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Note: Your gun is not loaded and must be reloaded.
  5. 5
Collect Additional Evidence on the 'Charon' Ship:
    • Use your camera to take a picture of the mounted fish for the Photo of a trophy plate.
  6. 6
Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings for the Flyer.
  7. 7
Search the Locker to the right of the desk for random loot.
  8. 8
Interact with Johannes van der Berg:
    • Exit the boat by climbing onto the dock (Triangle).
  9. 9
Engage in conversation with Johannes van der Berg. Key dialogue options to advance are: 'About my problem.', 'Where is Robert Throgmorton?', 'I need somewhere to stay.', 'How do I get to Devil's Reef?', 'Goodbye.'. Choosing these options will advance the game and lock out optional dialogue branches.
  10. 10
    Find Robert Throgmorton:
    • Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the bar and exit.
  11. 11
Climb the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. Key dialogue options to advance are: 'What happened to your son?', 'Who are the Innsmouthers?', 'What do you know about the visions?', 'I can try to find Albert.', 'Tell me more about the case.', 'I'll be going.'. Choosing 'I'll be going.' ends the conversation and locks out further dialogue on these topics.
  12. 12
    Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat:
    • Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  13. 13
    Inspect the Lifeboat Name ('TITANIA').
  14. 14
Examine the Diving Helmet, rotating it to search the front faceplate. Be aware that looking at the helmet for too long will drain your sanity.
  15. 15
Find Albert Throgmorton's will on one of the seats. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to reach it.
  16. 16
Finding the will unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
  • If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. This weapon consumes ammo rapidly; save its initial clip for critical moments.
  • Consider investing a Skill Point into the Absolute Clarity Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable contents are randomized. Areas with more loot may indicate higher danger.
  • The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional, provides no casebook entries, but grants 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  • Collecting all key evidence on the ship grants an additional 140 XP.
  • Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation grants an additional 140 XP.
  • DLC may provide a Submachine Gun and Skill Point.
