Walkthrough
  1. 1
    'Charon' Ship Investigation:
    1. Collect Key Evidence: Your belongings (briefcase containing a Letter from J. van der Berg), Camera, and Pistol. To examine the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an 'eyeball' symbol appears on the handle, and press X. You receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  2. 2
Collect Additional Evidence: Use the camera to photograph the mounted fish trophy on the wall. Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings.
  3. 3
Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk for ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable contents are randomized and reset upon leaving and returning to the area.
  • Casebook Task: Letter from J. van der Berg
    1. Exit the ship by climbing onto the dock (Triangle).
    2. Speak with Johannes van der Berg. Key dialogue options to advance: 'About my problem.', 'Where is Robert Throgmorton?', 'I need somewhere to stay.', 'How do I get to Devil's Reef?', 'Goodbye.'. Note that choosing specific dialogue options locks out others.
  • Casebook Task: Find Robert Throgmorton
    1. Proceed north along the pier.
    2. Turn right at the sign pointing to a bar and exit.
    3. Climb the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. Key dialogue options to advance: 'What happened to your son?', 'Who are the Innsmouthers?', 'What do you know about the visions?', 'I can try to find Albert.', 'Tell me more about the case.', 'I'll be going.'.
  • Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat
    1. Return to the sign that pointed to the exit.
    2. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
    3. Collect Additional Evidence: Inspect the 'TITANIA' name on the lifeboat. Rotate the Diving Helmet and examine its front faceplate. Pick up 'Albert Throgmorton's will' from a seat. Note that prolonged examination of the diving helmet drains sanity.
    4. Climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to access some evidence.
    5. Returning the will to Robert Throgmorton unlocks an optional conversation.
  • Tips
    • The Submachine Gun (Necronomicon Edition/DLC) uses bullets rapidly; save its initial clip.
    • Consider investing the free Skill Point (DLC) into 'Absolute Clarity' for a 5% XP bonus.
    • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammo and crafting materials. Higher quantities of loot may indicate a more dangerous area.
    • When examining the Diving Helmet, do not hold it for too long to avoid sanity drain.
    • Collecting all evidence in a location grants an additional 140 XP.
    • Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation grants an additional 140 XP and an extra conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
