    The "Charon" Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect key evidence: your belongings on the table (briefcase, camera, pistol). To collect the pistol, examine its handle by rotating it until an "eyeball" symbol appears and press X. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Additional evidence includes a photo of a trophy plate (use your camera on the mounted fish) and a flyer on a desk. Lootable objects like lockers can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials.

    Conversations: After leaving the ship, you'll speak with Johannes van der Berg. Key dialogue options to advance are "About my problem," "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay," "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and "Goodbye." Following this, find Robert Throgmorton by proceeding north along the pier and turning right at the sign. Key dialogue options with him include "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert," "Tell me more about the case," and "I'll be going."

    Optional: Titania Lifeboat: To access this optional investigation, return to the sign pointing to the exit, go left down a path, and then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. Collect additional evidence: the "TITANIA" nameplate, a Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate), and Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat. Be cautious, as examining the diving helmet drains sanity.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun and .45 ABP rounds are provided with the Necronomicon Edition or DLC. This weapon consumes ammo rapidly; save its initial clip.
  • A free Skill Point may be awarded with DLC. It's recommended to invest it in the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects reset when you leave and return to the area, allowing for repeated collection of materials and ammo.
  • The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional but rewards extra XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
