The "Charon" Ship: Your initial investigation location. Collect your belongings from the table. This includes the Letter from J. van der Berg (obtained by taking the briefcase), the Camera (a tool for taking evidence photos), and your Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an "eyeball" symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Note that your gun is not loaded and requires reloading (hold L1 for weapon wheel, press Square).

Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the mounted fish (Photo of a trophy plate). Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings (Flyer).

Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects provide ammunition and crafting materials and reset upon leaving and returning to the area.

Exit the Boat: Climb onto the dock by pressing Triangle.

Conversation with Johannes van der Berg: After climbing onto the dock, you will automatically start a conversation. Key dialogue options to advance the game are: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and "Goodbye.". Choosing these options progresses the game and locks out other dialogue branches.

Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the bar and exit. Ascend the stairs to initiate a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.

Conversation with Robert Throgmorton: Key dialogue options to advance the game are: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and "I'll be going.". Selecting "I'll be going." ends the conversation.

Optional: Lifeboat Titania: If you ask about the lifeboat's location, return to the sign pointing to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This is an optional investigation site that grants 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton upon completion.

Evidence in Lifeboat: Inspect the Lifeboat Name (TITANIA). Examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate). Collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat. You may need to press Triangle to climb inside the lifeboat.
