Treasures are transportable items that can be found, carried, and sold to Trading Companies in exchange for Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Treasure is the primary source of Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value in Sea of Thieves.
  2. 2
Each Trading Company values specific types of Treasure Items and has Representatives at every Outpost.
  3. 3
Representatives accept all Treasures related to their Company for Gold/Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
  4. 4
Outpost Representatives also offer Voyages, which lead Crews on Quests to find Treasure items.
  5. 5
Random Treasure can be found all over The Sea of Thieves: hidden or beached on Islands, floating amongst Barrels of Plenty or Shipwrecks, locked behind Vaults in Forts, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken.
  6. 6
Every Treasure Item has a colored glint or glow to help players spot and identify them from afar.
  7. 7
Treasure items must be carried by hand to their respective Company Representative for a payout.
  8. 8
A single Pirate can hold one Treasure Item at a time and cannot fight or use Equipment or Resource Items while carrying it. The Treasure must be dropped to regain full control.
  9. 9
Most smaller Treasure Items can be placed inside Container Chests to hide their emitted Glow, Glint, or Sound. Container Chests can hold up to 3 Small Treasure Items.
  10. 10
Any Treasure item dropped in water will sink after approximately 5 minutes (except for Trade Good Crates).
  11. 11
While sailing as Trading Company Emissaries, picking up a relevant Treasure item grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional Reputation for placing it on the Ship.
Tips
  • Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that wishes to purchase them.
  • Within the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance companies, Treasure Items are further categorized into Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, or Skeletal and Ghostly variants based on their source.
  • Gold Hoarders Treasure Items yield increased Reward and Reputation, as well as Emissary Value when sold to Representatives as Gold Hoarder Emissaries.
  • Treasure Chests are unbreakable and locked, sold to the Gold Hoarders for a portion of their contents. They can be found via Treasure Maps, Riddle Maps, inside Ancient Vaults, or randomly across The Sea of Thieves. They emit a White Glint from a distance.
  • There are six types of Treasure Chests: Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed.
  • Artefacts are smaller items found on their own, within Treasure Chests, or inside Fortress Vaults. They emit a Golden Glint from a distance.
