Discover all types of treasure in Sea of Thieves, including chests, artifacts, and more. Learn where to find them and how to sell them to Trading Companies for Gold and Reputation.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found randomly across The Sea of Thieves, hidden or beached on islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, or within vaults in forts. Enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken may also drop treasure. Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow to help players spot them.
- 2Carrying and Transporting Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand to its respective Company Representative for a payout. A pirate can only hold one treasure item at a time and cannot fight or use equipment while carrying it. Treasure can be retrieved with a Harpoon. Smaller items can be placed in Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items, to hide their glow and make transport easier.
- 3Treasure Lifespan: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after about 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 4Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant treasure. Additional Reputation is gained when the treasure is placed on the ship. These increases are awarded only upon the first claim of a treasure item.
- 5Trading Companies and Treasure Types: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that buys them: Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance. Within these, treasures can be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, or Skeletal and Ghostly variants.
- 6Gold Hoarders Treasure: This includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts.
- 7Treasure Chests: These are locked chests sold to the Gold Hoarders. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen (found in The Devil's Roar, sell for double), Valuable, and Cursed Treasure Chests. They emit a White Glint.
- 8Artefacts: Smaller items found on their own, in chests, or in fortress vaults. They emit a Golden Glint. Types include Trinkets, Containers, and Ornaments made of valuable metals and gems.
