Discover all types of treasure in Sea of Thieves, from chests to artifacts. Learn where to find them, how to carry them, and which Trading Companies pay the most.
Treasures are Transportable Items that can be found, carried, and sold to Trading Companies in exchange for Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Treasure is the primary source of Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
- 2Each Trading Company values specific Treasure types and has Representatives at every Outpost.
- 3Representatives accept Treasures for Gold/Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value. They also offer Voyages.
- 4Random Treasure can be found on Islands, in Barrels of Plenty, Shipwrecks, Vaults, Forts, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken.
- 5Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow for spotting.
- 6Treasure must be carried by hand to a Company Representative for payout. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot fight or use equipment while carrying it.
- 7Harpoons can retrieve Treasure from afar.
- 8Smaller Treasure items can be hidden in Container Chests, which hold up to 3 items.
- 9Treasure left on land remains until interacted with; treasure dropped in water sinks after about 5 minutes (except Trade Good Crates).
- 10As an Emissary, picking up relevant Treasure grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional Reputation for putting items on your Ship.
Tips
- Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that buys them.
- Within the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance, Treasure is further categorized by source (Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, Ghostly).
- Gold Hoarders accept Treasure Chests and Artifacts.
- Treasure Chests are locked and sold to Gold Hoarders. They emit a White Glint. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed.
- Artifacts are smaller items found alone, in chests, or in Fortress Vaults. They emit a Golden Glint.
