- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through various means:
- Completing Voyages offered by Trading Companies.
- 2Discovering random treasure scattered across The Sea of Thieves, including on Islands, in Barrels of Plenty, and within Shipwrecks.
- 3Unlocking Vaults in Forts.
- 4Defeating enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken.
- 5Identifying Treasure: All treasure items emit a distinct colored glint or glow, allowing players to identify them from a distance.
- 6Carrying Treasure: Treasure must be carried by hand to the respective Trading Company Representative. A pirate can only carry one treasure item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while doing so. The treasure must be dropped to regain full control. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from afar.
- 7Storing Treasure: Smaller treasure items can be placed inside Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items, to hide their glow and simplify transportation.
- 8Treasure Lifespan: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water will sink after approximately 5 minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 9Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary and picking up relevant treasure grants Emissary Grade Reputation. This bonus is awarded only when the treasure is claimed for the first time.
- 10Selling Treasure: Each Trading Company values specific types of treasure. Representatives at every Outpost accept these items for Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Tips
- Treasure Chests are valuable items sold to the Gold Hoarders. They are found via Treasure Maps, Riddle Maps, inside Ancient Vaults, or randomly across the seas. They emit a White Glint. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed.
