Walkthrough
  1. 1
Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through dedicated Voyages, randomly across the Sea of Thieves, hidden on Islands, floating in Barrels of Plenty or Shipwrecks, or within Forts and enemy encounters (Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, Kraken). Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow for visibility.
  2. 2
Transporting Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand to its respective Company Representative. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or fight while carrying treasure. Dropping the item allows for full control. Harpoons can retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller items can be placed in Container Chests (holding up to 3 items) to hide their glow and simplify transport.
  3. 3
Treasure Persistence: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates which float longer.
  4. 4
Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant treasure. Additional Reputation is gained when the treasure is placed on the ship, with increases given only for the first claim of an item.
  5. 5
Trading Companies: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that buys them: Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance. Within these, treasures can be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, or Skeletal/Ghostly variants.
  6. 6
Gold Hoarders Treasure: Items sold to the Gold Hoarders include Treasure Chests and Artefacts.
  7. 7
Treasure Chests: These are locked chests sold to the Gold Hoarders. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral (found in Siren Shrines/Treasuries), Ashen (found in The Devil's Roar, worth double), Valuable (from specific Encounters), and Cursed (tied to specific locations/effects). They emit a White Glint.
  8. 8
Artefacts: Smaller items like Trinkets, Containers, or Ornaments made of valuable materials. They emit a Golden Glint and share pricing tiers with Treasure Chests.
Tips
  • Use a Harpoon to retrieve treasure from a distance.
  • Container Chests can hide treasure's glow and carry up to 3 small items.
  • Ashen Treasure Chests from The Devil's Roar are generally worth double their regular counterparts.
  • Pay attention to the colored glint/glow to identify treasure types from afar.
