The Sea of the Damned — Sea of Thieves Walkthrough

Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through dedicated Voyages, randomly on Islands, within Barrels of Plenty, Shipwrecks, Fort Vaults, or taken from enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. All treasure items emit a distinct colored glint or glow for easy spotting.

Carrying and Delivering Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand to the appropriate Trading Company Representative at an Outpost. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or fight while carrying treasure. Dropping the item allows for full control. Harpoons can retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests (up to 3 items) to hide their glow and simplify transport.

Treasure Mechanics: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer. Picking up relevant treasure while sailing as an Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional gains for placing items on your ship. These bonuses are awarded only on the first claim of an item.

Types of Treasure: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that buys them: Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance. Within these, treasures can be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.

Gold Hoarders Treasure: This category includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts.

Treasure Chests: Locked chests sold to Gold Hoarders for their contents. Found via maps, Ancient Vaults, or randomly. Emit a White Glint. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral (found in Siren Shrines/Treasuries), Ashen (found in The Devil's Roar, double price), Valuable (from Encounters), and Cursed (location/effect specific, very valuable).

Artefacts: Smaller items found alone, in chests, or Fortress Vaults. Emit a Golden Glint. Types include Regular Trinkets, Containers, and Ornaments.
