Discover all types of Treasure in Sea of Thieves, including chests and artifacts. Learn how to find, carry, and sell them to Trading Companies for Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through various means:
    • Completing Voyages from Trading Companies.
  2. 2
Discovering random loot on islands, floating in barrels, or within shipwrecks.
  3. 3
    Opening Vaults in Forts.
  4. 4
Defeating enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken.
  5. 5
Finding them in Siren Shrines and Treasuries.
  6. 6
    Carrying Treasure:
    • A pirate can only carry one Treasure item at a time.
  7. 7
While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot fight or use equipment/resource items. The treasure must be dropped to regain full control.
  8. 8
Treasure items can be retrieved from afar using a Harpoon.
  9. 9
Smaller Treasure items can be placed inside Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items, to hide their glow and make transport easier.
  10. 10
Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
  11. 11
    Selling Treasure:
    • Treasure must be carried by hand to the respective Trading Company Representative at an Outpost to receive a payout.
  12. 12
Each Trading Company values specific types of Treasure.
  13. 13
Selling Treasure grants Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value (if sailing as an Emissary for that company).
  14. 14
    Emissary Bonus:
    • Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary and collecting relevant Treasure grants Emissary Grade Reputation.
  15. 15
Additional Reputation is awarded if the items are placed on the ship. These bonuses are given only upon the first claim of a Treasure item.

Types of Treasure:

  • Gold Hoarders Treasure: Includes various Treasure Chests and Artefacts. Treasure Chests are locked and sold to the Gold Hoarders. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed Treasure Chests. Artefacts are smaller items found in chests or vaults.
  • Order of Souls Treasure: Primarily Bounty Skulls, obtained by defeating Skeleton Captains.
  • Merchant Alliance Treasure: Includes Trade Goods (like Rum, Silk, Spices, Cannonballs, Sugar) and Animals (Chickens, Pigs, Snakes). These are found in crates or cages.
  • Athena's Fortune Treasure: Rare and valuable items obtained from high-level Emissary Quests or specific Tall Tales.
  • Ashen Treasures: Found in The Devil's Roar, often including Ashen Keys and Ashen Chests.
  • Siren Treasures: Found in Siren Shrines and Treasuries, often including Coral Chests and various Artefacts.
