Master the art of treasure hunting in Sea of Thieves! Learn about different treasure types, where to find them, and how to sell them to Trading Companies for Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Treasures are Transportable Items in Sea of Thieves that players can find, carry, and sell to various Trading Companies. Selling treasure yields Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value, which are essential for progression and unlocking rewards.
The primary sources of treasure are Voyages assigned by Trading Companies, but random treasures can also be discovered scattered across the Sea of Thieves. These can be found on islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, within fort vaults, or taken from enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. All treasure items emit a distinct colored glint, allowing players to identify them from a distance.
Carrying treasure requires a pirate to hold it by hand, preventing them from using equipment or resources. While a pirate can only carry one treasure item at a time, smaller items can be stored in Container Chests, which can hold up to three items and hide their emitted glow. Treasure dropped in water will sink after approximately five minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates. Treasure items can also be retrieved from afar using a Harpoon.
When sailing as a Trading Company Emissary, collecting treasure relevant to that company grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional bonuses for placing the treasure on the ship. These reputation increases are awarded only upon the first claim of a treasure item.
