Dive into Sea of Thieves! Learn about shipwrecks, sunken treasures, and how to find and sell valuable loot to Trading Companies for Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found randomly on islands, floating in barrels, within shipwrecks, or obtained from quests and enemy encounters (Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, Kraken). Treasure items emit a distinct glint or glow, allowing players to spot them from a distance.
  2. 2
Transporting Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand to a Trading Company representative at an Outpost. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while carrying treasure. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from afar. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests (up to 3 items) to hide their glow and simplify transport.
  3. 3
Treasure Lifespan: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates which float longer.
  4. 4
Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant treasure. Additional Reputation is gained if the treasure is placed on the ship. These bonuses are awarded only upon the first claim of a treasure item.
  5. 5
Selling Treasure: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that desires them (Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance). Representatives at each Outpost accept specific treasures for Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Tips
  • Treasure Chests are unbreakable and locked. They are sold to the Gold Hoarders, who have the keys. They emit a white glint and can be found via Treasure Maps, Riddle Maps, Ancient Vaults, or randomly.
  • Shipwrecked Treasure Chests are damaged versions found underwater or in shipwrecks, selling for the same as regular chests.
  • Coral Treasure Chests are found in Siren Shrines and Treasuries.
  • Ashen Treasure Chests are molten, found in The Devil's Roar, and sell for double the price of regular chests.
  • Valuable Chests are specific to certain Encounters.
  • Cursed Treasure Chests are tied to specific locations or effects and are very valuable.
  • Artefacts are smaller items found on their own, in chests, or in Fortress Vaults. They emit a golden glint.
