Discover how to find, carry, and sell treasure in Sea of Thieves. Learn about different treasure types, their locations, and how they contribute to your Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found scattered across The Sea of Thieves. Look for a colored glint or glow to spot items from afar. Common locations include islands, shipwrecks, barrels of plenty, and as rewards from various encounters like forts and boss fights.
- 2Carrying Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while doing so. Smaller items can be placed in Container Chests, which can hold up to three items and hide their glow.
- 3Selling Treasure: Treasure must be delivered to the respective Trading Company representative at any Outpost. Each company values specific types of treasure. Selling treasure grants Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
- 4Treasure Types: Treasures are categorized by the Trading Company they belong to (Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance). Within these, they can have variants like Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly.
- 5Gold Hoarder Treasure: This includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts. Treasure Chests are locked and sold to the Gold Hoarders for their contents. Artefacts are smaller valuable items found throughout the world. Chests emit a white glint, while artefacts emit a golden glint.
- 6Special Chests: Shipwrecked Treasure Chests are found in shipwrecks. Coral Treasure Chests are found in Siren Shrines and Treasuries. Ashen Treasure Chests are found in The Devil's Roar and are more valuable. Valuable and Cursed Treasure Chests are tied to specific encounters and locations.
- 7Emissary Bonus: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary and selling relevant treasure increases your Emissary Grade Reputation and provides additional rewards.
