Treasures are the primary source of Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value in Sea of Thieves.

Each Trading Company has representatives at every Outpost who accept specific treasures for rewards.

Voyages can be purchased from Outpost Representatives to embark on quests for treasure.

Random treasure can be found on islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, within Fort vaults, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken.

All treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, allowing players to identify them from a distance.

Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company representative for a payout. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while carrying treasure.

Treasures can be retrieved from afar using a Harpoon.

Smaller treasures can be placed in Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items, to hide their glow and simplify transport.

Treasure left on land remains until interacted with, but treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes (except for Trade Good Crates).

Picking up treasure relevant to a Trading Company while sailing as an Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional gains for placing it on the ship. These bonuses are awarded only upon the first claim of a treasure item.

Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that purchases them. Within the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance, treasures are further classified into Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, and Ghostly variants.

Gold Hoarders Treasure: This includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts.

Treasure Chests: Unbreakable and locked chests sold to the Gold Hoarders. They emit a White Glint and come in six types: Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed.

Artefacts: Smaller items found individually, within chests, or in Fortress Vaults. They emit a Golden Glint and include Trinkets, Containers, and Ornaments made of valuable metals and gems.
