Learn how to repair your ship in Sea of Thieves! We cover hull damage, mast, wheel, capstan repairs, and the effects of fire and cannonballs. Keep your ship afloat!
Alright, pirate! Let's talk about keeping your trusty vessel afloat. When you're out sailing the Sea of Thieves, things can get a bit rough, and your ship will take a beating. Knowing how to fix it is key to survival! ### Ship Damage Pretty much any ship can be damaged, and if you don't keep up with repairs, you'll eventually sink. Thankfully, most damage can be fixed with good old Wooden Planks. You'll use these for the Hull, Wheel, Masts, and Capstan. * Hull Damage: This is the most critical to fix. If the hull takes too much damage, your ship will start to flood. Let that water reach the top deck, and you're going down! * What causes Hull Damage? Lots of things! Cannonballs, crashing into big stuff, huge waves in Storms, Gunpowder Barrel explosions, Fire, and even Volcanoes can all damage your hull. * Masts, Wheel, and Capstan: These can each take about three cannonball hits before they're broken. Each hit needs one Wooden Plank to repair. Be warned: Chainshot instantly breaks these parts, so keep an eye out for those! * Chainshot on Hull/Pirates: If Chainshot hits your hull or you directly, it only does half the damage of a regular cannonball. Phew! * Cursed Cannonballs: These don't actually damage your ship's structure, but they can cause all sorts of trouble. Purple ones mess with your ship and its parts, while green ones affect your crew directly. * Fire: Fire is a sneaky one. It can spread *everywhere* – masts, floors, equipment, even the Crow's Nest. It damages slowly, but it will spread until you douse it. You can get set on fire by Lightning, Firebombs, exploding Chests of Rage, or gunpowder barrels. Oh, and if you leave something burning on a Stove for too long, your kitchen will catch fire! * Blunderbombs: These won't damage your ship, but they'll give you a little nudge, like a weak gunpowder barrel explosion. * Emissary Flags: If your ship sinks while flying an Emissary Flag, the flag will be left behind as a Broken Emissary Flag. You can sell these to the Reaper's Bones for some gold and reputation, depending on your emissary level. ### Scuttling Sometimes, you might just need to start fresh. You can voluntarily sink your own ship, called Scuttling. To do this, your whole crew needs to vote in the Crew settings menu. Once everyone agrees, your ship will get unfixable holes and sink. You'll then respawn at a random island with a new ship. They even teach you how to scuttle on the Ferry of the Damned!100% Human-Written. AI Fact-Checked. Community Verified.
