Learn about the various types of treasure in Sea of Thieves, how to find them, and how they contribute to your Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value with Trading Companies.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be discovered through various means:
- Randomly found on islands, beached, or floating in the sea.
- 2Inside Barrels of Plenty and Shipwrecks.
- 3Within Vaults in Forts.
- 4Taken from enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken.
- 5Obtained through Voyages and Quests offered by Trading Companies.
- 6Identifying Treasure: All treasure items emit a distinct colored glint or glow, allowing players to identify them from a distance.
- 7Carrying Treasure: Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company representative. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or fight while carrying treasure. Treasure can be retrieved with a harpoon. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests (up to 3 items) to hide their glow and simplify transport.
- 8Treasure Persistence: Items left on land remain until interacted with. Items dropped in water sink after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 9Emissary Value: Picking up relevant treasure while sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional bonuses for delivering the items to your ship.
Types of Treasure:
- Gold Hoarders Treasure: Includes Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (Trinkets, Containers, Ornaments). Treasure Chests emit a White Glint, while Artefacts emit a Golden Glint.
- Order of Souls Treasure: Primarily Bounty Skulls, obtained from defeating Skeleton Captains.
- Merchant Alliance Treasure: Includes Trade Goods (Plants, Minerals, Textiles, Rum), Cargo Orders, and Animals.
Selling Treasure:
- Treasure must be sold to the specific Trading Company representative at an Outpost that values that type of item.
- Selling treasure grants Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value (if applicable).
- Ashen and Stronghold variants of treasure are generally more valuable.
