Learn how to find, carry, and sell various treasures in Sea of Thieves. Discover different treasure types, their locations, and how they contribute to your Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Find Treasure: Treasure can be found randomly on islands, beached, in shipwrecks, barrels, or obtained from quests, vaults, and defeated enemies like skeletons, Megalodons, and the Kraken. Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow for visibility.
- 2Carry Treasure: A pirate can only carry one treasure item at a time, limiting their ability to fight or use equipment. Dropping the item restores full control. Harpoons can retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests (holding up to 3 items) to hide their glow and facilitate transport.
- 3Treasure Lifespan: Items left on land remain until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 4Emissary Bonus: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant treasure. Additional Reputation is gained by placing these items on the ship. This bonus applies only to the first time a treasure item is claimed.
- 5Sell Treasure: Each Trading Company values specific treasure types and has representatives at every Outpost. Selling treasure to the relevant company earns Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
