Explore the world of Sea of Thieves treasure! Learn about different treasure types, how to find them, mechanics of carrying and selling, and their value to Trading Companies.

Treasures are transportable items in Sea of Thieves that players can find, carry, and sell to various Trading Companies. Selling treasure earns players Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

The primary mechanics of treasure involve finding it through Voyages or random exploration across islands, shipwrecks, and from defeated enemies. Each treasure item emits a distinct glint, aiding in identification. Players must carry treasure items by hand, which restricts their ability to fight or use equipment. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests, which hold up to three items and can hide their emitted glow. Treasure dropped in water will sink after approximately 5 minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates. Selling treasure relevant to a Trading Company while sailing as an Emissary grants additional Emissary Grade Reputation.

Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that values them. The three main companies are the Gold Hoarders, the Order of Souls, and the Merchant Alliance. Within these, treasures can be further classified into Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, and Ghostly variants depending on their origin.

Gold Hoarder Treasure includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts. Treasure Chests are locked containers sold to the Gold Hoarders, who possess the keys. They can be found via Treasure Maps, Riddle Maps, in Ancient Vaults, or randomly. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed Treasure Chests. Artefacts are smaller items found on their own, within chests, or in Fortress Vaults, emitting a golden glint.
