Treasures are transportable items that can be found, carried, and sold to Trading Companies in exchange for Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

- 1Treasure is the primary source of Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value in Sea of Thieves.
- 2Each Trading Company values specific types of Treasure and has Representatives at every Outpost who accept these items for rewards.
- 3Representatives also offer Voyages, which lead Crews on Quests to find Treasure.
- 4Random Treasure can be found on Islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, within Fort vaults, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken.
- 5All Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, allowing players to identify them from afar.
- 6Treasure must be carried by hand to a Company Representative for payout. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while carrying it.
- 7Harpoons can retrieve Treasure from a distance.
- 8Smaller Treasure items can be placed in Container Chests (holding up to 3 items) to hide their glow and simplify transport.
- 9Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 10Picking up relevant Treasure as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional gains for placing it on a ship. These increases are awarded only upon the first claim of an item.
Types of Treasure:
- Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that purchases them.
- Within the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance, treasures are further classified into Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, and Ghostly variants based on their source.
- Gold Hoarders Treasure: Includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts.
- Treasure Chests: Unbreakable, locked chests sold to Gold Hoarders. Found via maps, in Ancient Vaults, or randomly. Emit a White Glint. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed.
- Artefacts: Smaller items found alone, in chests, or fortress vaults. Emit a Golden Glint. Types include Regular Artefacts (trinkets, containers, ornaments).
