Discover all types of treasure in Sea of Thieves, from chests to artifacts. Learn how to find, transport, and sell them to Trading Companies for Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found in various locations: hidden on islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, inside forts, or dropped by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. Look for a colored glint or glow to spot treasure from afar.
- 2Transporting Treasure: Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company Representative at an Outpost. While carrying treasure, you cannot use equipment or resources. You can use a Harpoon to retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller treasures can be stored in Container Chests, which hold up to 3 items and hide their glow. Treasure dropped in water sinks after about 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates.
- 3Selling Treasure: Each Trading Company values specific types of treasure. Selling relevant treasure to a Company Representative earns Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value. As a Trading Company Emissary, picking up relevant treasure grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional gains when the item is placed on your ship.
Types of Treasure:
- Gold Hoarders Treasure: Includes Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (Regular, Ashen, Coral, Skeleton Captain). Chests emit a white glint, while Artefacts emit a golden glint.
- Order of Souls Treasure: Primarily includes Bounty Skulls and Voodoo Dolls, which emit a purple glint.
- Merchant Alliance Treasure: Consists of Trade Goods (Plants, Spices, Silks, Rum, Cannonballs, Sugar) and Animals (Chickens, Pigs, Snakes, Foxes). These items are often found in crates and emit a green glint.
- Other Treasures: Includes various unique items like Coral Message in a Bottles, Ashen Keys and Chests, Skeleton Captain's Chests, and more, often tied to specific encounters or locations.
Tips
- Always be aware of your surroundings and listen for audio cues that might indicate nearby treasure or threats.
- Utilize your ship's Harpoon for efficient treasure retrieval, especially from shipwrecks or difficult-to-reach areas.
- Container Chests are invaluable for organizing and protecting smaller treasures, especially when dealing with multiple items.
- Prioritize selling treasure relevant to your current Trading Company and Emissary status to maximize rewards.
- Be mindful of the time limit for treasure items left in the water; retrieve them quickly or store them on your ship.
