Sea of Thieves frequently introduces new content and events, often tied to game updates and seasons. Season 11, released on January 23, 2024, brought significant overhauls to Voyages and encounters, alongside new Raid Voyages and an increased Trading Company level cap. Participating in these events and progressing through seasons can unlock exclusive rewards and distinctions.

Key features of Season 11 include:

• Sea of Thieves On Demand: An overhaul of Voyages and encounters, allowing quicker access to adventure.
• Raid Voyages: New Trading Company-themed World Events with unique treasure, unlocked from the Quest Table as players rank up.
• Reputation System: Reputation is now earned upon Voyage completion, though treasure must still be delivered for maximum profit. Trading Companies have raised their level cap to 100, with Distinctions offering rewards and resetting levels for further progress.
• Tutorial Voyages: New players benefit from Pirate Lord-led tutorials for Gold Hoarders, Merchant Alliance, and Order of Souls, which can be replayed from the Quest Table.
• Season 11 Rewards and Plunder Pass: Progress through 100 new levels by raising Renown to earn rewards, with an optional Plunder Pass for additional items.

Community events often involve unique quest items such as the Lover's Compass from the Wild Rose Tall Tale, the Morningstar Set from Revenge of the Morningstar, or the Flame of Souls used in the Sea of the Damned.
