Learn how to find, carry, and sell treasure in Sea of Thieves. Understand different treasure types, their value to Trading Companies, and how to maximize your rewards.
Walkthrough
- 1Find Treasure: Treasure can be found through dedicated Voyages, randomly on islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, within Fort vaults, or dropped by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. Treasure items emit a distinct colored glint from a distance.
- 2Carry Treasure: A single pirate can carry one treasure item at a time. While carrying treasure, you cannot use equipment or resources, and your combat abilities are limited. You can use a harpoon to retrieve treasure from afar. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests (holding up to 3 items) to hide their glow and sound. Treasure dropped on land remains until interacted with; treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes (except for Trade Good Crates).
- 3Sell Treasure: Take treasure items to the appropriate Trading Company representative at any Outpost. Each company values specific types of treasure. Selling treasure earns Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value (if sailing as an Emissary).
Tips
- As a Trading Company Emissary, picking up relevant treasure increases your Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional gains for placing it on your ship.
- Treasure Chests are unbreakable and sold to the Gold Hoarders. They emit a white glint and come in various types: Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen (more valuable, found in The Devil's Roar), Valuable, and Cursed.
- Artefacts are smaller items found on their own, in chests, or in fortress vaults. They emit a golden glint and are sold to the Gold Hoarders.
