The Masked Stranger & Lore — Sea of Thieves Walkthrough

Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found on islands, in shipwrecks, floating in barrels, within vaults, or taken from enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, making them visible from a distance.

Carrying Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand to a Trading Company Representative. While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot fight or use equipment. Dropping the treasure allows for full control. Harpoons can also retrieve treasure from afar. Smaller items can be placed in Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items, to hide their glow and sound.

Treasure Persistence: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.

Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant treasure. Additional Reputation is gained when these items are put on the ship. These bonuses are applied only on the first claim of a treasure item.

Trading Companies: Each Trading Company values specific types of treasure and has representatives at every Outpost. They accept treasure for Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value. They also offer Voyages that lead to treasure.

Types of Treasure: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company they are sold to. Within the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance, treasures are further classified into Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, and Ghostly variants.

Gold Hoarders Treasure: This category includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts.

Treasure Chests: These are locked chests sold to the Gold Hoarders. They can be found via Treasure Maps, Riddle Maps, Ancient Vaults, or randomly. They emit a White Glint. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed Treasure Chests. Ashen chests are found in The Devil's Roar and sell for double.

Artefacts: These are smaller items found alone, in chests, or in Fortress Vaults. They emit a Golden Glint. Types include Regular Artefacts (trinkets, containers, ornaments) and share pricing tiers with Treasure Chests.
