Walkthrough
  1. 1
Treasure is the primary source of Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value in Sea of Thieves.
  2. 2
Each Trading Company values specific types of Treasure and has representatives at Outposts to accept them.
  3. 3
Voyages are quests that lead players to treasure items.
  4. 4
Random treasure can be found on islands, in shipwrecks, floating in the sea, in Fort vaults, or taken from enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken.
  5. 5
All treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, allowing players to identify them from afar.
  6. 6
Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company representative for a payout. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while doing so.
  7. 7
The Harpoon can be used to retrieve treasure from a distance.
  8. 8
Smaller treasure items can be placed in Container Chests (holding up to 3 items) to hide their glow and make transport easier.
  9. 9
Treasure left on land remains until interacted with, but treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes (except for Trade Good Crates).
  10. 10
Picking up relevant treasure while sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional increases for delivering the items to your ship.
Tips
  • Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company they are sold to.
  • Within the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance companies, treasure can have Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.
  • Gold Hoarders accept Treasure Chests and Artefacts.
  • Treasure Chests are locked and sold to the Gold Hoarders, who have the keys. They can be found via maps, in Ancient Vaults, or randomly. They emit a White Glint.
  • Types of Treasure Chests include: Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral (found in Siren Shrines/Treasuries), Ashen (found in The Devil's Roar, sell for more), Valuable (from specific Encounters), and Cursed (tied to specific locations/effects, very valuable).
  • Artefacts are smaller items found alone, in chests, or in Fortress Vaults. They emit a Golden Glint.
