Master Sea of Thieves treasure hunting! Learn about all treasure types, where to find them, how to carry them, and which Trading Companies pay the most.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Finding Treasure: Treasure items emit a colored glint from a distance, making them easier to spot. They can be found on islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, inside fort vaults, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken.
  2. 2
Carrying Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand. While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot fight or use equipment. The treasure must be dropped to regain full control. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from afar. Smaller items can be placed in Container Chests, which hold up to 3 items and hide their glow.
  3. 3
Treasure Lifespan: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
  4. 4
Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant treasure. Additional Reputation is gained if the treasure is placed on the ship. These bonuses are awarded only on the first claim of a treasure item.
  5. 5
Selling Treasure: Treasure must be carried to the respective Trading Company representative at an Outpost to receive Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Tips
  • Use a Harpoon to quickly grab treasure from a distance.
  • Container Chests are useful for transporting multiple small treasures and hiding their glow.
  • Pay attention to the glint color to identify treasure types from afar.
  • Prioritize selling treasure relevant to your current Emissary flag for maximum gains.
