Mechanics:
Most Fragments can be scanned using a Codex or Synthesis Scanner. This unlocks artwork in the Codex's Universe tab, which can also be used as Orbiter decorations. Each image has a hidden point that, when hovered over, reveals a short audio transmission with additional lore. An audio clue (white noise that gets louder as you get closer) helps locate this point. Other Fragment types require direct interaction (default X key).

Cephalon Fragments:
Cephalon Fragments are data pieces found throughout the Origin System, typically in mission rooms, appearing as hovering blue data blocks. Most planets, moons, and locations (including the Void and Deimos, but excluding Kuva Fortress) have 2-3 unlockable fragments, each needing 3-7 scans. They appear on the mini-map as a blue quadruple diamond with loot radar mods. Scanning them unlocks artwork and lore about Factions, Characters, and Planets. Decrypting these fragments reveals Ordis' Past, narrated by Ordis.
