Discover how to find and scan Fragments in Warframe to unlock hidden lore, artwork, and audio transmissions that flesh out the Origin System's rich narrative.
Walkthrough
- 1Mechanics: Most Fragments can be scanned using a Codex or Synthesis Scanner. This unlocks artwork in the Codex's 'Universe' tab, which can be used as Orbiter decorations and includes accompanying lore. A hidden point on each image, when hovered over, unlocks a short audio transmission with additional lore, indicated by increasing white noise. Other Fragments require direct interaction (default X).
- 2Cephalon Fragments: These blue, hovering data blocks are found in rooms during missions across most planets, moons, and locations (except Kuva Fortress). Each location has 2-3 fragments, requiring 3-7 scans. They appear as a blue quadruple diamond on the mini-map with loot radar mods. They are not found in Defense, Interception, or Archwing missions. Scanning them unlocks artwork and lore about the Origin System, factions, characters, and planets. Decrypting them reveals 'Ordis' Past', narrated by Ordis.
- 3Cephalon Fragment Details (Example: Earth): On Earth, fragments require 3 scans. The lore describes Earth as long abandoned, overgrown, and inhabited by mutated wildlife and infestation, with most valuable resources scavenged. The Ordis transmission reveals his hidden truth, his search for identity, and his fear of being an Orokin forbidden creation.
- 4Cephalon Fragment Details (Example: Venus): On Venus, fragments require 3 scans. The lore describes the Corpus practicing industry in mountainous peaks, with superstructures built in regions with lingering Orokin technologies moderating surface temperatures. The Ordis transmission questions his nature as a thinking machine, his flaws, phantom memories, and his abomination status.
