- 1Mechanics: Most Fragments can be scanned using a Codex or Synthesis Scanner. This unlocks artwork in the Codex's 'Universe' tab and accompanying lore. A hidden point on the artwork, indicated by white noise, unlocks an audio transmission with further lore. Some Fragments require direct interaction (default X).
- 2Cephalon Fragments: These are blue data blocks found in missions across most planets, moons, and locations (excluding Kuva Fortress, Defense, Interception, and Archwing missions). Each location has 2-3 fragments requiring 3-7 scans. They reveal lore about the Origin System's factions, characters, and planets, and decrypting them reveals Ordis' Past, narrated by Ordis.
- 3Earth: Fragments reveal lore about Earth's toxic atmosphere, mutated wildlife, and Grineer settlements. Ordis' transmissions touch upon his hidden truths, his nature as a machine, and his service to the Operator.
- 4Venus: Fragments detail Corpus industrial practices in Venus's mountains, Tenno dojos influenced by Orokin architecture, and the Corpus crew's indoctrination. Ordis' transmissions explore his identity, his forbidden nature, and his continuous cycle of thought.

- Use loot radar mods to help locate Cephalon Fragments on the mini-map.
