Discover and collect Fragments in Warframe to unlock hidden lore, audiovisual content, and artwork that flesh out the Origin System's rich setting and characters.
Walkthrough
- 1Mechanics: Most Fragments can be scanned using the Codex or Synthesis Scanner. This unlocks artwork in the Codex's 'Universe' tab, which can also be used as Orbiter decorations. Each artwork has accompanying lore. A hidden point on the artwork, indicated by increasing white noise, unlocks an audio transmission with additional lore. Some Fragments require direct interaction (default 'X' key) instead of scanning.
- 2Cephalon Fragments: These appear as hovering blue data blocks, usually found in rooms during missions. They are located on most planets, moons, and locations in the Origin System (except Kuva Fortress), with 2-3 fragments per location, each requiring 3-7 scans. They can appear once per mission in random locations, but not in Defense, Interception, or Archwing missions. Scanning them unlocks lore about the Origin System's Factions, Characters, and Planets, and decrypting them reveals Ordis' Past, narrated by Ordis.
- 3Fragment Lore Examples:
- Earth: Lore describes Earth as abandoned due to its toxic atmosphere, now overgrown and inhabited by Infestation and wildlife. Scavengers stripped it generations ago. Ordis' transmission speaks of hiding his existence and the pain of knowing.
- 4Wildlife: Lore explains that most wildlife today originated from Earth, modified by the Orokin for various purposes, with some surviving through adaptation. Ordis' transmission questions his own nature as a thinking machine.
- 5Earth Settlements: Lore details Grineer settlements on Earth, utilizing water reserves beneath the forest canopy, with outposts overtaken by vegetation. Ordis' transmission discusses his service to the Operator and his nature as a Cephalon.
- 6Venus: Lore describes Corpus industrious craft hidden in Venus's mountainous peaks, with superstructures built in areas moderated by lingering Orokin technologies. Ordis' transmission questions the definition of a Cephalon and his own existence.
