The Modding System Explained — Warframe Walkthrough

Discover how to find and scan Fragments in Warframe to unlock hidden lore, artwork, and audio transmissions that deepen your understanding of the Origin System.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Mechanics: Most Fragments can be scanned using the Codex or Synthesis Scanner. This unlocks artwork in the Codex's 'Universe' tab, which can be used as Orbiter decorations and comes with accompanying lore. A hidden point on each image, indicated by white noise that gets louder as you approach, unlocks a short audio transmission with additional lore. Some Fragments require direct interaction (default X) instead of scanning.
  2. 2
Cephalon Fragments: These are blue, hovering data blocks found in mission rooms across planets, moons, and locations like the Void and Deimos (excluding Kuva Fortress). Each location has 2-3 fragments requiring 3-7 scans. They appear as a blue quadruple diamond on the mini-map with loot radar mods. These fragments reveal lore about the Origin System's factions, characters, and planets, and decrypting them reveals 'Ordis' Past', narrated by Ordis. They do not spawn in Defense, Interception, or Archwing missions.
  3. 3
    Fragment Lore Examples:
    • Earth: Reveals lore about its abandoned state, mutated wildlife, and Grineer settlements. Transmissions focus on Ordis's self-discovery and his nature as a Cephalon.
  4. 4
Venus: Details Corpus industrial practices in mountainous regions and Tenno dojos influenced by Orokin architecture. Transmissions explore Ordis's identity crisis and his forbidden nature.
  5. 5
Corpus Crew: Lore describes the Corpus's reliance on indoctrinated humanoids and robots. Ordis's transmissions reflect on his purpose and the nature of Cephalons as found entities.
Tips
  • Use loot radar mods to easily spot Cephalon Fragments on your mini-map.
  • Listen for the white noise clue to find the hidden audio transmission points on scanned artwork.
  • Fragments are released in order of their appearance in the game.
