Follow this guide to complete the Lost in the Dunes side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Find Ponthos in the Oasis Source cave and clear the path back to Kara Kara Bazaar.
Walkthrough
- 1When you first arrive at Kara Kara Bazaar, you'll see travelers with a mysterious orb. You can't interact with them yet. Progress the main story in Gerudo Town until you must return to the bazaar to defend it from a Gibdo attack.
- 2After the attack, find the same group of travelers. One is missing. Speak to Benja, who explains their leader, Ponthos, is missing.
- 3Benja mentions Ponthos went west and might have fallen into a sinkhole. It's easier to complete this quest after the sand shroud is gone (after the Lightning Temple).
- 4Exit the bazaar and head southwest. Look for a campfire next to a large pillar. A sinkhole will be nearby. Jump into the sinkhole to enter the Oasis Source cave.
- 5Inside the cave, you'll find Ponthos. Speak to him; he's trapped.
- 6Look for a breakable rock wall through the larger opening in the cave. Destroy it.
- 7You'll reach two more rock walls. The blue rocks lead to an ore node. The other wall leads to a larger area with Stone Pebblit enemies.
- 8In this larger area, locate and break the blue rock wall to reveal a path with a ladder. This ladder leads to the Kara Kara Bazaar Well.
- 9Once the path is clear, return to Ponthos and speak to him. He will then leave.
- 10Return to Kara Kara Bazaar and speak with Benja to complete the quest.
Tips
- While you can start this quest before completing the Lightning Temple, it is significantly easier to wait until after the temple to ensure the sand shroud is gone, making navigation simpler.
- The Mysterious Orb. This can be taken to the statue room in the Gerudo Shelter for the "The Mysterious Eighth" side quest.
