How to Beat Battle Talus in Tears of the Kingdom

Learn how to defeat the Battle Talus in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This guide covers its weaknesses, phases, and the best strategies to overcome this challenging foe.

The Battle Talus is a variation of the Stone Talus, distinguished by platforms on its upper body where Bokoblins reside. These additional enemies and platforms make the fight more challenging than basic Talus encounters but also provide opportunities to gain an advantage.

Battle Taluses can be found in various locations across Hyrule, some hidden underground and others roaming freely. If you encounter one that is partially submerged, you have a chance for a surprise attack on the Bokoblins before engaging the main body.

Strategy:

• Stealth Approach: Utilize the crouch mechanic and stealth-increasing food or elixirs when approaching a Battle Talus, especially if it's partially submerged. This allows for a surprise attack on the Bokoblins on its platforms.
• Clear the Platforms: Use arrows fused with materials like Fire Fruit or Bomb Flowers to target the Bokoblins on the platforms. Aim to knock them off or defeat them quickly. If a stealth approach isn't possible, keep your distance and take them out one by one. All Bokoblins must be defeated before you can attack the Talus itself.
• Target the Weak Spot: Once the Bokoblins are cleared, focus on the black crystal-like object located on the Talus's shoulder. Lock onto this weak spot using the ZL trigger for easier aiming.
• Ascend and Attack: After hitting the weak spot, the Battle Talus will kneel. Quickly close the distance and position yourself under one of its platforms. Use Link's Ascend ability to reach the platform and get close to the weak spot. Inflict damage using blunt weapons like a Rock Hammer for maximum effectiveness.
• Evade Attacks: The Battle Talus will attempt to throw you off its body. Watch for its shaking tell and jump off before it attacks to avoid being stunned. It will also throw large rocks; run to the side to evade these. Maintain some distance to avoid its rock fist attacks.
• Repeat: Continue this process of hitting the weak spot, using Ascend to climb onto the Talus, and attacking until the Battle Talus is defeated.
