Don't freeze on Hyrule's Great Sky Island! Learn exactly where to find the Archaic Warm Greaves in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to gain cold resistance.

Alright, so you're on the Great Sky Island in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and things are about to get chilly! As you're heading to the third shrine, Gutabanc Shrine, you'll notice the weather really starts to bite. The game introduces you to extreme cold, and your main way to deal with it for now is by cooking up dishes with Spicy Peppers you find around. It's a temporary fix, but it'll get you through until you solve the shrine.

Now, here's the cool part: after you're done with the Gutabanc Shrine and have that handy Ascend ability, a permanent solution is super close. From the shrine, head east, but keep your eyes peeled to the north. You'll see this huge, frozen tree stump way up across a gap. It looks pretty inaccessible, right? But that's where Ascend comes in!

Go to the area underneath a big chunk of that frozen tree stump that's hanging over the accessible part. Use your new Ascend ability to zip right up through the frozen wood. Once you pop out inside the massive tree stump, keep heading north. Look to your right (that's east) and you'll find a little cubby. Inside that cubby is a chest!

Open it up, and boom! You've found the Archaic Warm Greaves. Equipping these bad boys gives you one level of Cold Resistance. This means the temperature gauge will show less of those dangerous blue sections, making it way easier to handle the cold. It might not be enough for the absolute coldest spots in the game later on, but for the Great Sky Island, it's a lifesaver. Definitely grab these early on; it's a super useful piece of gear to have right from the start!
