How to Get Better Armor

Alright, so you've been exploring Hyrule and probably noticed that some of the enemies hit pretty hard, right? Well, the good news is you can make your armor way tougher! To do that, you'll need to find the Great Fairy Fountains scattered across the land. Think of them as your personal armor enhancement stations.

Getting access to a Great Fairy isn't just a walk in the park, though. You'll need to dive into some side adventures, specifically those involving a music troupe. Once you've helped them out and unlocked a Great Fairy, you can start upgrading. Just remember, you'll need two things: monster materials (you'll be collecting a ton of those anyway!) and some Rupees. The Great Fairy will show you exactly what you need and how much it'll cost for each upgrade.

Now, a heads-up: you can't add special resistances like cold or heat resistance to your armor through upgrades. This system is purely about making your armor stronger and increasing its defense rating. So, while you can't turn your basic tunic into a fireproof suit, you can make it so much more durable!

Also, not every single piece of armor in the game can be upgraded. Some special outfits, like Cece's Hat, just don't have an upgrade path. You'll see this clearly when you check them at the Great Fairy. Another important thing is that the Great Fairies have limits on how much they can upgrade your gear at first. To get your armor to its absolute maximum potential, you'll want to find and unlock all of them. This is key to really beefing up your defense so you can take on even the toughest monsters Hyrule throws at you.
