Where to Find The First Shrine in The Great Sky Island

New to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Learn how to find and complete the first shrine, Ukouh Shrine, on the Great Sky Island. Get started with basic controls and abilities!

Alright, so you've just woken up in the Room of Awakening after that whole ordeal with Zelda. Your very first mission is to get to the Temple of Time. It's pretty straightforward – just follow the path in front of you. The game will teach you the basics, like how to jump, so keep an eye on the on-screen prompts. Once you get to the exit, you'll be super high up. Just walk to the edge and press the jump button to dive into the water below.

After that, you'll want to follow the path heading north until you hit a fork. Take the path to the right, and you'll find another spot where you can dive down to the next island. There's not much to explore right now, so just keep heading north until you reach the Temple of Time. Go up the stairs and interact with the door. You'll have a chat with Rauru, but unfortunately, you don't have the powers needed to go inside yet. That means you've got to find and complete three shrines on the island first: Ukouh Shrine, In-isa Shrine, and Gutanbac Shrine.

You can tackle these shrines in any order you like, but there's a suggested path that'll help you get a feel for exploring the island. So, from the Temple of Time, head down to the area on the right. You'll need to cross a river to get to the base of the shrine's rock. Once you're there, climb the spiral stairs to the top. Heads up, though – some parts of the stairs are broken, so you'll have to do a bit of climbing on the cliff face to reach the next section of the steps.

At the very top, interact with the seal to open the shrine's entrance. Inside, you'll be using the UltraHand ability to solve puzzles. If you get stuck, don't worry, there are guides out there to help you through the Ukouh Shrine puzzles specifically. Completing this shrine is key because it gives you the UltraHand ability, which is super useful for getting around the open world.
