Master Act 2 of Genshin Impact's 'The Chalk Prince and the Dragon' event. Learn strategies to defeat Treasure Hoarders, Fatui, and Hilichurls, and protect totems.

Alright, let's dive into Act 2 of 'The Chalk Prince and the Dragon' event in Genshin Impact, called 'Archon's Rival'. This part of the event focuses on Albedo and some rather persistent foes. You'll need to be ready for a few different types of enemies, so let's get you prepped!

Walkthrough
  1. 1

Meet with Albedo: First things first, head to Albedo's Campsite. Chat with him – he's noticed some strange signs and wants you to check out an investigation site. He'll give you the lowdown.

  2. 2

Go to the investigation site: Your next stop is the northern edge of the Snow-Covered Path. When you get there and speak with Albedo again, you'll be interrupted by some Treasure Hoarders. Get ready for a fight!

  3. 3

Defeat the assailants: This is where it gets a bit spicy. You'll face two waves of Treasure Hoarders. The first wave has Scouts and Pyro Potioneers. Using Pyro, Electro, and Hydro will make this much easier. After them, a second group shows up: a Crusher (the big hammer guy), a Gravedigger (shovel), and two Marksmen (crossbow users). Again, Pyro, Electro, and Hydro are your friends here. Be super careful of the Crusher's attacks – they're slow but hit like a truck!

Pro-Tip: That first group is mostly ranged. Close the distance and keep moving to dodge their attacks effectively.

Just when you think you're done, BAM! A group of Fatui Skirmishers arrives. This includes a Hydrogunner Legionnaire, a Cryogunner Legionnaire, and an Anemoboxer Vanguard. These guys can be tough, especially if your World Level is high.

    Strategy for Fatui:

    • Hydrogunner Legionnaire: Take this one out FIRST. It heals its allies, so you need to stop that ASAP. Hit it with Electro to break its shield, then switch to Pyro for Overload damage. Keep alternating between Electro and Pyro to take it down quickly.
  4. 4
Anemoboxer Vanguard: This one's next. It can bring back a teammate, so you don't want it sticking around. Since it's Anemo, it doesn't have a specific elemental weakness, but it also doesn't have a major strength you need to exploit. Be aware that its shield can absorb the first element you hit it with, and then it might unleash a powerful punch that pulls you in and deals heavy elemental damage based on what it absorbed. Keep dodging and attacking from range. Using Hydro and Electro together will trigger Electro-Charged, dealing damage over time.
  5. 5
Cryogunner Legionnaire: This one is weak to Pyro, so you'll take it down relatively quickly. Watch out for its constant frost spray – keep your distance and keep hitting it with Pyro. It also has a nasty leap attack that deals AoE damage, similar to Slime leaps.
  6. 6

Investigate the ley line disorder: After the scene, head west. You'll spot a red marker sticking out of the ground. Interact with it to start a challenge. Your goal here is to protect three totems while fighting off six Hilichurls. Don't let those totems get destroyed, or you'll fail!

  7. 7

Defeat the attacking monsters: For this part, just focus on stopping the monsters from destroying the totems. They're weak to Pyro and Electro, and the last enemy is a Lawachurl. Keep an eye on those totems!

After this, you'll get another cutscene, and the quest will wrap up, leading straight into the event itself.

  8. 8

Archon’s Rival Event - Act 2: This is where the 'Testing Grounds' event kicks off. You'll see red cross symbols on your map, usually around Dragonspine. Go to one of these markers and interact with it to start a challenge. It's similar to the totem defense you just did: protect three totems while fighting enemies. Completing these challenges earns you a new currency called Glimmering Essence. You can then spend this Glimmering Essence in the Event Shop to get various items, most importantly, the Festering Dragon Marrow, which is a crucial refinement material for the Festering Sword.

You'll need to complete at least 16 of these challenges to snag all the rewards from the event shop.

Tips
  • Remember to use elemental reactions effectively, especially against the Fatui and Treasure Hoarders.
  • Prioritize targets: take out healers and support units first.
  • Keep an eye on your stamina and positioning, especially during the totem defense challenges.
  • Don't forget to spend your Glimmering Essence in the Event Shop for valuable rewards!
