The Meaning of Meaningless Wait

Head to Konda Village: First things first, warp to the Konda Village waypoint. From there, just head southeast towards the group of villagers. You'll trigger a scene where Tejima is about to leave, and everyone's trying to convince him to stay.

Ask the Crowd: Now, you need to chat with two villagers, Kenjirou and Mahiru. They'll tell you how much Tejima has done for the village over the past thirty years – protecting them from monsters and Treasure Hoarders, and even settling disputes. It's clear he's a beloved figure, which makes his sudden departure even more confusing for them.

Talk to Tejima: After hearing from the villagers, go talk to Tejima himself. He's right behind them. When you ask why he's leaving, he'll say he doesn't have a reason to stay. You'll point out how long he's been there and how much people rely on him. Tejima will admit that's not why he stayed all these years, but he can't recall his original reason for being there. He mentions that ever since his Vision was taken, he feels empty and can't remember anything. You'll offer to help him rediscover his purpose.

Find Tejima's Diary: Once that conversation wraps up, head east from Tejima and examine his diary, which is just outside his house. Reading it will reveal his daily activities and, more importantly, mention that his Omamori is fading and he often visited the nearby shrine. Paimon will chime in, suggesting you check out the shrine.

Investigate the Shrine: Make your way north to the shrine. When you examine the area, you'll find the Omamori mentioned in the diary lying right in front of it. Paimon will have a great idea: since Tejima carried this Omamori, it should hold some residual elemental energy. You can use your Elemental Sight to track where he's been.

Use Elemental Sight for Clues: Activate your Elemental Sight and follow the blue energy trail southeast, heading behind a house. You're looking for a spot near a tree with three small rocks. You'll get a 'check' prompt when you're in the right place. Interact with it, and you'll see that the soil looks disturbed. Dig it up, and you'll find a small box containing a letter. This must have been important to Tejima, hence burying it. The letter reads: "_If we become separated during the war, go wait for me in Konda Village. There’ll be a safe home for us there._" It seems Tejima came to Konda Village thirty years ago to wait for someone who never showed up. Paimon suggests showing this letter to Tejima.

Talk to Tejima Again: Head back to Tejima. He'll confirm it's his handwriting but has no memory of writing it. He realizes he was waiting for someone, likely his lover. He explains that losing his Vision stripped away all his feelings for her, leaving him feeling hollow. Even though it sounds tragic, he can't remember her and doesn't feel sad. When you ask if he's still leaving, he decides he might as well stay, given how long he's been there. He figures if she ever returns, she'll find him. Tejima thanks you for helping him remember his reason for staying, and Paimon reflects on how losing a Vision might mean losing your hopes and dreams. And with that, the quest concludes!
