Follow this Assassin's Creed Valhalla walkthrough to conquer Honor's Hubris, detailing how to assault Magnis Fortress and defeat Ricsige.
Alright, so you've made it to Stenwege and it's time to tackle the "Honor's Hubris" quest. First things first, head up to the battlements and have a chat with Faravid. After that little scene, you'll need to hop on your horse and ride northwest to Magnis' staging grounds. Once you get to the camp, find Ljufvina over on the west side. Another cutscene's gonna play here, and what happens next might change a little depending on if you spilled the beans to Halfdan about Faravid's plan, but don't worry, the end result is the same. You'll need to try and talk the Picts into surrendering, but surprise! Ricsige shows his true colors as a traitor.
- 1
Speak with Faravid: You'll find Faravid in Stenwege, which is northwest of Jorvik. Just head to the battlements to kick things off.
- 2
Assault on Magnis Fortress: The attack kicks off right after that negotiation goes south. Your first job is to take out the Pict envoy and his two Man at Arms buddies. Don't sweat it, your allies will be helping you out. Once they're down, push west towards the fortress walls.
Lower the Ladders: Get to the walls and you'll see a springald. Shoot its mechanism to blow it up. Keep an eye out for any fire pots on the wall and shoot those too. Then, aim for the links on the ladders to bring them crashing down, giving you access to the fortress.
- 3
Reach the Inner Compound: Now that you're inside, keep heading west towards the inner compound. It gets pretty hairy with enemy fire as you get close to the walls. To get some breathing room, shoot the link on the net to the right of the gate – it'll drop some rubble on the enemies below. You'll need to climb the walls here to get into the inner compound. Feel free to take out any warriors on the ramparts, but remember they'll just keep coming. The only way to stop them is to jump over the gate and shoot the links on the reinforcement bar. This opens the gate for your allies.
- 4
Breach the Palisade and Lower the Drawbridge: With your allies through the main gate, head north inside the compound. You'll need to breach the palisade by tossing a nearby fire pot at it. Once you're on the other side, deal with the enemies manning the springalds. Then, head east and turn south to climb the walls opposite the drawbridge. From here, you can shoot the links holding the drawbridge up – there's one on each side, just like the others. Once the drawbridge is down, you'll have a clear path into the inner courtyard. Your objective now is to kill every enemy in sight; they'll be marked with teal objective markers. Once the area is clear, a cutscene will play, and the assault is complete.
- 5
Defend Magnis Fortress and Kill Ricsige: After the cutscene, you'll need to defend the fortress from a Pict attack coming from the north. You'll find plenty of arrows on the battlements, perfect for picking off ranged enemies. You'll also need to switch to melee for anyone who makes it over the walls. If you're feeling brave, you can always jump down and meet them head-on in front of the gate.
Once you've thinned their numbers, Ricsige will be spotted fleeing north. Chase after him using the rope wire and then through the snow. He won't get far before he turns back. Taking him down is pretty straightforward; he won't put up much of a fight. After he's dead, another cutscene will play, and the quest wraps up.

Trophy Tip: Before you leave, this is a great time to snag the "Is There Anybody Out There?" trophy. Just walk along Hadrian's Wall from Magnis Fortress westward to Brunton Turret, lighting all the unlit braziers as you go.
