Prey in the High Hall

Reach the First Mauling Site: First things first, you need to head north. Wulfhilda will be with you, and you're looking for the first mauling site. As you get close to the quest marker, you'll see an old Anglo-Saxon woman getting jumped by a bunch of wolves. Your job here is to take out all those wolves quickly. Once the area is clear, chat with the woman. She'll spill the beans and tell you that Hrothgar and his crew of Danes were actually behind the attack on the cows.

Follow Wulfhilda to Brisleah Farm: After that little wolf-slaying interlude, you'll need to stick with Wulfhilda for a bit. You're heading northwest to Brisleah Farm. When you get there, you'll notice the whole place is a wreck – burnt to a crisp and covered in that weird mould you saw on the cows. Head for the church; that's where you need to search for Hrothgar. He's up on the higher levels. To get up there, you'll need to shoot down a ladder. Climb up and talk to him. He'll tell you about Grendel attacking his men. Sadly, he's pretty badly wounded and won't last long; he'll pass away shortly after you speak with him.

Wait for Grendel and Meditate: Now, you need to wait for Grendel to show up. The game gives you a hint: meditate to pass the time. To do this, hold down the 'G' key to bring up the action wheel, then select the meditate option.

Defeat Grendel: Once you stop meditating, Grendel will make his grand entrance back at the church. You've got a couple of options here. You can stay up on the upper platform and just shoot him with arrows, which is super easy. Or, if you're feeling brave, you can jump down and try a stealth attack by pressing 'F'. Now, Grendel in the original Beowulf tale is a total beast, but in this game? He's surprisingly weak. You can honestly just take him out with a few arrows from above without ever getting close.
